Four years ago, I welcomed a small, furry companion into my life: Carlito.
What I didn’t know then was that our journey of finding him a dog food that would keep him healthy would be far from simple.
Early on in his life he got sick and it turned out that it was triggered by the food he was eating.
Even after recovering from his initial health issues, Carlito continued to struggle with digestive problems, low energy, and food sensitivities. I decided to have him tested for food intolerances, and the results explained everything: he couldn’t tolerate many common proteins, ingredients, and supplements. Suddenly every meal became a careful decision.
For the time, the only solution was cooking his meals at home using fresh, natural ingredients. While this helped, it raised new concerns: was he getting all the essential nutrients his body needed?
Through this experience, I realized how hard it can be to find truly natural, healthy dog food and treats. Many products claim to be natural, yet hide long, unclear ingredient lists full of additives and fillers. Having grown up in Germany with higher standards and easy access to clean options, the contrast after moving to Portugal was obvious: grain-free, hypoallergenic, minimally processed choices were limited, often overpriced, or simply hard to find. And while more and more dog parents in Portugal want honest, transparent nutrition, the market still hasn’t fully caught up.
This is why TO&LI Pure Nature was created!
Our mission is simple:
To provide honest, natural dog food and single-protein dog treats and chews
To focus on clean ingredients, high digestibility, and nutritional value
To create products suitable for dogs with sensitive stomachs
To create products suitable for dogs with allergies and intolerances
While we are starting with natural chewing treats and chews, this is only the beginning
